I originally planned to join the STEM tour, but after some thought, I realized that cultural and language experiences seemed more worthwhile. And so my journey began.

At first, I was both excited and nervous. When I received my host family's photos before the trip, my feelings turned into worry.

We set off! Our first stop on the first day was Taronga Zoo Sydney. The animals there were so cute, and there were turkeys wandering all around. Our second stop was the fish market, where we ate delicious oysters and squid fries. We also bought macarons for dessert. After that, we visited the Sydney Opera House. The scenery there was beautiful, and when the bridge was bathed in the glow of the sunset, it was truly breathtaking.

On the second day, I took a connecting flight to meet my host family. I bought my favorite toy to give them when we met. It was the host family's father who picked us up, and it wasn't as scary as I had imagined. He chatted with us the whole way to their home, which made us feel much less nervous. They also had two little children, and their mother was from Hong Kong.

On the sixth day, we visited a local primary school. I was struck by how free and open the local students' classrooms were. Although lunchtime was very short, they could do so much in that time. Another day passed just like that. The time I spent with my partner was limited, but it left me with wonderful memories. Even though there were language barriers and things we hadn't expected, they were so sincerely grateful for even the smallest souvenir, trying their best to remember us.

On the day we returned to Sydney, it was time to say goodbye to my host family. I had planned to say goodbye happily, but seeing the tears welling up in that mischievous little girl's eyes, I couldn't hold back anymore. Although we only spent a few days together, we had already created countless unforgettable memories for each other. Parting is inevitable; what we need is to learn how to face it and to grow from it. I'm so grateful I chose to participate in this exchange program. I not only met many wonderful people, but I also gained so much and took many photos.
