English Day Presentation with Alice (12 Sep 2017)

Our Italian Exchange student, Alice Interliggi, was introduced to the whole school on the first English Day Morning Assembly. The English Ambassadors, Roy Ng from 5A and Regina Tao from 5B asked her some interesting questions about herself. Although Alice was nervous, as it was her first time to ever to give a sharing in English to her peers, she did a great job.

During lunchtime, she participated in the Lunchtime Radio show. She helped to pick songs and write a script with her fellow 4A classmates, Anais Leung and Jacky Louie.

Alice's reflection (May 2018)

It seems like yesterday that I arrived at this school, not really knowing what to expect except feeling enthusiastic about what I would experience. Now that it is almost over, I don't even know how to start writing about my experience at POMA - probably because there is too much to write about. My school life has been one of the most important parts of my exchange year.

When I first arrived, everything was new. It was exciting since I came all the way to Hong Kong to try things that I had never done before and I have to admit that it was pretty scary too. When I first arrived here, I knew no one while in my old school almost anyone was a friend of mine. I had to wear a uniform for the first time in my whole life and I was going to study subjects that I had never studied before. I didn't need to spend so much time at school since we have lessons for half day only in Italy. However, I enjoyed every moment of it and now that I'm leaving in one month. I know this experience is going to stay with me. What was unusual for me seven months ago has now become normal. Now I have new friends and I like the new subjects I have to study. Having to pass more than 8 hours per day at school is not big deal anymore.

Since I came to POMA, I have learnt a lot. What I gained is not only about physics or mathematics! I have played volleyball and I discovered that being part of a team is the same even on the other side of the world. I have become more confident since I took part in the Speech Festival and I improved my English too since I joined many activities with the English Ambassadors. What's more, I learnt many things about the culture in Hong Kong.

Above all, I learnt a lot about myself and how to be a better person. I'm no longer the same girl who walked to school on the first day and it's only because of the people who have been part of my experience in this school and how they have inspired me. I'm sure I couldn't ask for anything better.
