通識科課程特色 Liberal Studies Curriculum

 通識教育科旨在透過探究各類議題以擴闊學生的相關知識基礎,並幫助學生理解現今世界的狀況及其多元化特質。學生透過運用多角度思維研習不同的議題,能建構邏輯思辯能力,探索他們與自己所身處的現今世界的關係,以及學習到與自己直接相關的各類知識。

 

本科採用「學生主導」的教學模式,安排了各種多元化的學習活動,讓學生自主運用各種學習資源及「從閱讀中學習」的策略,幫助他們拓闊知識層面和視角。例如,透過小組討論與分享、角色扮演、辯論、工作坊、寫作練習等活動,學生可以訓練到多角度思考能力及演繹技巧,亦能提升他們的學習自信及課堂參與度。除此之外,本科亦舉辦了不少全方位學習的考察活動與交流團,能深化學生學習通識的成效及提升學習興趣。本科於初中引入「思考方法」、「個人成長與人際關係」、「今日香港」、「現代中國」與「專題研習」等課題,使學生對這些課題有初步的認識,有利學生升讀高中後更順利地銜接通識科。

 

本科與德育及公民教育組合作,透過不同的課堂及課後活動,推動各級學生關心時事,藉此擴闊學生的時事常識和相關知識根基,有助他們建構個人對社會、世界的認知,以及提升本科的學習成效。

 

本校通識科於2016-20172017-2018學年參與了教育局的「專業發展學校計劃」,與專業學校和夥伴學校就通識教育科的學、教、評三方面進行交流。教師透過聯校觀課、教學設計及校內考評的分享與交流,重新檢視了校本課程的規劃及教學與考評設計,並結合夥伴學校的成功經驗優化教學,促進學生學習。連續兩年參與「專業發展學校計劃」,讓本校的通識教師團隊持續地專業成長。未來,團隊成員將繼續優化校本課程,除了更有效地結合學、教、評,為學生應付文憑試做好裝備外,更重要的是實踐通識科「知、情、意、行」的教育目標,加強課程內的價值教育,強化課程內容與學生身處的世界之連繫,培養學生成為負責任的公民。

 

The Liberal Studies Department aims to broaden the students’ knowledge by letting them explore various topics and to help students understand the current situation of the world. Students learn about diversity so that they can use different perspectives to study different issues and hence build personal knowledge which is related to their era.

 

We adopt a student-centred learning approach. Through the diversified learning approach, the use of various learning resources and the “Learning from Reading” strategy, we broaden the students' knowledge and perspectives. Students are further developed through group discussion and sharing, role-playing, debates, workshops, writing exercises, etc. We train students to think from different perspectives and use deductive skills to boost their confidence in learning and increase their classroom participation. In addition, through life-learning activities and exchange tours, we enhance the effectiveness of students’ learning and raise their learning interest. In the junior forms, we adopt “Thinking Method”, “Personal Growth and Interpersonal Relationship”, “Hong Kong Today”, “Modern China” and “Project Learning” to let students have a preliminary understanding of these modules which is beneficial to the convergence to the HKDSE level.

 

We cooperate with the Moral and Civic Education Committee to raise students’ interest in current issues through class and after-school activities so as to broaden their knowledge base and enhance their learning in the subject.

 

Our Liberal Studies team participated in the "Professional Development Schools Scheme" of the Education Bureau in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years, and exchanged views with professional schools and partner schools on the learning, teaching and evaluation of Liberal Studies. Through joint school observation, teachers exchange ideas on teaching design and assessment, re-examine the planning and assessment of school-based curriculum, and combine the successful experience of partner schools to optimize teaching and promote learning. Our Liberal Studies teachers participated in the "Professional Development School Scheme" for two consecutive years for continual professional development. In the future, our team members will continue to optimize the school-based curriculum to equip students with the skills to cope with the HKDSE, combining learning, teaching and evaluation effectively. We emphasize the practice of the educational objectives of "Knowledge, Emotion, Will, and Action" and strengthen values education. We aim to strengthen the connection between the content of the course and the world in which students live, cultivating students to become responsible citizens.
