目標 Objective

為提升學生的語文能力,培訓中英兼擅的年青人,本校致力完善各項環境設施,設計優質課程,推行有成效的計劃及活動,以達致目標。

In order to enhance the language proficiency of our students and train those who are good at both Chinese and English, we are committed to improving the environmental facilities, designing quality courses and implementing effective programs and activities to achieve our objectives.

 

實踐計劃  Implementation Plan

   

1          以學生為本的課程設計 Student-centered curriculum design

Ø  本校按學生的英語能力,提供合乎學生需要的課程。
The school provides students with the necessary courses according to their English proficiency.

Ø  中一所有同學,主要科目多以英語為授課語言,包括英文、數學及綜合科學。
For F.1 students, English is used as the medium of instruction in main subjects such as English, Maths and Integrated Science.

Ø  對英語能力較佳的同學,除了以上科目外,地理、歷史、音樂、電腦等也使用英語為授課語言。
For the students with better English proficiency, apart from the aforementioned subjects, English is also used as the medium of instruction in Geography, History, Music and Information and Computer Technology.

    

2          英語銜接課程 English Bridging Programme

Ø  中一級在入學前的暑假,須參加英語適應課程,讓他們學會基本的課室用語及提升口語能力,為日後英語科進行全英語教學,做好準備。
All F.1 students are required to take the Summer Bridging Programme to learn basic classroom language and improve speaking skills so that they can be prepared for the English language teaching approach of the English Department.

Ø  各科所使用的英語詞彙及句式,在英文科的活動中盡量結合使用,以鞏固學生的記憶,提升他們運用該等詞彙的能力。
English vocabulary and sentence structures used in other subjects are merged with the activities held by the English Department as much as possible to enhance students’ memorization and improve their ability to use them in future.

   

3          英語科教學策略及措施 English teaching strategies and measures

Ø  英文科採用全英語授課,以訓練學生讀寫聽說的技巧。
English is used as the medium of instruction in English lessons to equip students with the four skills required, namely, reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Ø  英文科推行廣泛閱讀計劃,挑選及推介著名作家及其作品,鼓勵初中學生選讀,以提升其英語能力。The English Department conducts a wide range of reading programs, selects and promotes famous writers and their works to encourage junior form students to choose their reading materials and enhance their English proficiency.

Ø  除正規寫作課程外,還有剪報寫作、短評時事等練習,並培訓學生參加各項寫作比賽。
In addition to formal writing courses, there are newspaper clippings, commentary writing, etc. to train students so that they are equipped and encouraged to participate in various writing competitions.

Ø  每年,本科組會把學生的寫作作品結集成書,於校內派發,鼓勵同儕交流。
Each year, the English Department collects and selects the writing works of outstanding students to be made into a publication which is distributed to all the students to encourage peer learning.

Ø  所有學生均可以透過網上自學軟件及班本網上平台學習,以鼓勵同學間互相磨練英語。
All students can do self-study through selected online software and online class platforms to improve their English.

Ø  重視口語訓練,課程內加入視聽和戲劇元素、音標學習、辯論訓練,並培訓學生參加朗誦節及不同類型的話劇比賽。
With the help of audio-visual and drama elements, phonetic learning and debate training, we put emphasis on oral training. We train students to participate in the annual Speech Festival and different types of drama competitions.

Ø  英文學會定期舉辦各類型的英語學習活動,又舉行英語周以展示學生學習成果。
The English Society organizes various types of English learning activities and holds an English Week to show students' learning outcomes.

Ø  甄選及培訓學生英語大使,負責籌辦英語日活動、推廣英語學習。
We select and train students to be English Ambassadors, who are responsible for organizing English Day activities and promoting English learning.

Ø  為不同能力的學生舉辦拔尖及輔導課程,以發揮他們的所長,或鞏固其基礎。
Different elite and remedial courses are held for students of different abilities to let them excel themselves or consolidate their foundation.

   

4          營造校園英語環境  Create an English environment

Ø  課堂內外,英語老師均以英語和學生交談。
English teachers speak English to students both inside and outside the classroom.

Ø  逢星期二為英語日,早會由英語大使及各級學生輪流主講,全日宣佈均以英語進行,並進行午間及課後英語活動。
Every Tuesday is English Day. The English Ambassadors of different forms take turns to make announcements in English. There are English activities during lunchtimes and after-school.

Ø  校園內張貼名言雋語,主題定期更換。
Famous and themed meaningful quotes are posted around the campus which are replaced at regular intervals.

Ø  本校參加AFS國際文化交流之本地接待計劃 (AFS Hosting Program),有助擴闊學生國際視野,增加對不同文化的認識,同時有助增潤學校的英語環境。
Joining the AFS Hosting Program held by AFS helps broaden students' horizons to the world, increases their awareness of different cultures and enriches the school's English environment.

   

5          充裕的資源與設備  Abundant resources and equipment

Ø  校內設有語言藝術室、多媒體學習中心,以及大量新穎先進的數碼教材、書籍及遊戲等。
The school has a Language Arts room, a Multimedia Learning Centre and a large number of new and advanced digital teaching materials, books and games.

Ø  增聘英語教學助理,以協助推廣各項英語學習計劃。
The school employs an English teaching assistant to help promote the English language learning programs.

   

6          課程設計出色,獲邀分享 Invitation to share excellent course designs

Ø  本校老師在初中地理、歷史及科學科均加入英語寫作訓練,以鞏固學生對各類文體的認識,從而清晰而有條理地組織、表達及有效地傳達學科概念,成效滿意,多次獲教育局邀請與教育界同工分享。
For junior forms students, our teachers have added English writing training in Geography, History and Integrated Science to consolidate students' understanding of different text types so that they can organize, express and convey the concepts of various subjects effectively. The teachers involved are invited by EDB to share their successful experiences with the education sector.
